CBD For Cold & Flu Season

Cold and flu season is officially upon us. This year, we have a secret weapon – the Brothers Ginger & CBD Honey Cold Buster. Made with tummy-taming fresh ginger, bright lemon and Brothers Apothecary Wild Rosin Honey, this naturopathic cold remedy will have you on your feet in no time. The Brothers Apothecary Wild Rosin Honey combines the antimicrobial, soothing properties of raw, ethically-harvested wildflower honey with the naturally anti-inflammatory, relaxing powers of CBD.*

So, What is CBD?

CBD is the compound naturally found in the cannabis plant. The non-psychoactive cousin to THC, CBD can’t get you high. Instead, when ingested, CBD gets to work on your body’s endocannabinoid system. Our body’s endocannabinoid system is in charge of regulating sleep patterns, appetite and general mood. Our bodies already produce cannabinoids in its regulation of emotion and sleep – ingesting CBD can trigger the release of more.*

What does CBD do?

In addition to triggering the release of cannabinoids, CBD also works with the nervous system to intercept the transmission of pain signals in the body. It also influences the release of specific hormones and enzymes that can aid in digestive health and cognitive function.*

CBD For Flu Aches & Pains

Millions of people living with chronic pain (or suffering from the aches and pains associated with the cold and flu) turn to CBD as an alternative to harsh, potentially-damaging pharmaceutical drugs. CBD is a natural analgesic and anti-inflammatory. It has been shown to inhibit the body’s absorption of anandamide, a compound associated with pain regulation. CBD helps calm inflammation, reduce pain and provide instant relief for head colds and body aches.*

CBD For A Good Night’s Sleep

In addition to calming pain and inflammation, CBD is an excellent sleep aid. The best medicine for any cold or flu is sleep. Rest jumpstarts the body’s ability to heal naturally. By calming inflammation, reducing anxiety and soothing chronic pain, CBD helps to promote relaxation and encourage deep sleep.*

Ginger & Lemon – A Timeless Cold Remedy

Spicy and aromatic, fresh ginger root is a natural anti-inflammatory. The gingerols and shaogals in ginger root soothe sore throats, and they also help kill rhinoviruses – the virus that causes colds in the first place. Ginger is also helpful for settling upset stomachs, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and cold sweats. Lemon is high in Vitamin C, which supports the immune system and can help free radicals. It’s also helpful for reducing inflammation and swelling. Honey soothes sore throats, and is an effective and natural cough suppressant. Honey’s sweetness also balances out the tartness of the lemon and the ginger’s spice, rounding out this remedy’s soothing flavor.*

If You Need Some Soothing Right Now

Don’t wanna wait for your jelly to cure? Make a fresh version using the same ingredients for some healing on the double. Grate or finely chop the fresh ginger, and place into a tea strainer. Pour boiling water into the cup, and let the tea sit for five minutes. Remove the tea strainer, and squeeze the ginger pulp with a spoon to release more ginger juice into your mug. Squeeze the juice of 1/4 fresh lemon into the mug, and stir in 1-2 tsp of  Brothers Apothecary Wild Rosin Honey to taste.*
