Switching From Coffee To CBD Tea

Not a morning person? I don’t blame you. Waking up is hard, especially during the long, dark, cold winter months. It used to be that the only thing that really got me out of bed was the promise of a hot cup of rich, dark coffee. Drinking a morning cup of joe before work was a ritual I thought I’d never give up. That is, until I started reading about all the benefits of switching to tea.

Like many coffee drinkers, I began building up a tolerance to the stuff. That meant that I was guzzling more and more cups of coffee just to get the same buzz. And more often than not, I was ending up with the jitters. Drinking too much coffee was starting to affect my sleep, and trigger my anxiety. That’s when I decided it might be high time I switched from black coffee to black CBD tea!*

Why CBD Tea?

Naturally calming and mood-elevating, CBD has been used for hundreds of years to soothe anxiety, ease chronic pain and provide a state of alertness (without the jitters of caffeine). While many use CBD in higher doses as a non-pharmaceutical sleep aid, in lower doses CBD actually produces an alert, focused feeling without excessive caffeine.

So what exactly is CBD? CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is a compound naturally found in the cannabis plant. The non-psychoactive cousin to THC, CBD can’t get you high. Instead, when ingested, CBD gets to work on your body’s endocannabinoid system. Our body’s endocannabinoid system is in charge of regulating sleep patterns, appetite and general mood. Your body already produce cannabinoids in its regulation of emotion and sleep – ingesting CBD can trigger the release of more. In addition to triggering the release of cannabinoids, CBD works with the nervous system to intercept the transmission of pain signals in the body. It also influences the release of specific hormones and enzymes that can aid in digestive health and cognitive function. Seems like a pretty good way to start the day!*

So what are the benefits of switching from your morning coffee to CBD tea?

1. CBD Tea Is Super Hydrating

Coffee might be made with water, but its actually a diuretic. That means its very dehydrating. On the other hand, tea is an excellent source of hydration. Tea (hot or iced) replenishes vital fluids, keeping your body functioning well and your skin glowing.*

2. CBD Tea Will Keep You Going For Longer

While its true that many black and green teas have caffeine – some nearly as much as a cup of coffee – the effects of the two drinks on your body are very different. True, caffeinated coffee and tea are both stimulants, but coffee has a much bigger depressive effect that tea. This means that while both coffee and caffeinated tea will give you a rush of caffeine, with coffee the high will last shorter and the drop will happen quicker. If you’re looking for something to keep you alert and awake all day long, tea is a better bet.*

3. Tea Is Easier To Make

It might not seem like much of a difference, but in our modern go-go-go world, shaving a few moments off your morning routine can make all the difference. It’s much easier and faster to toss a teabag in some hot water than waiting around for your french press or pour-over to finish brewing.*

4. CBD Tea Is Full Of Antioxidants

Antioxidants protect our bodies from dangerous free radicals and generally keep our bodies ticking. Antioxidants also help protect your heart, lower your risk of infections and may even lower your risk of cancer! Lucky for you, tea is naturally chock-full of antioxidants and starting your morning with a cup of tea is a super easy way to get your daily dose!*

5. CBD Tea Is Diet-Friendly

Research suggests that green tea is a fantastic metabolism booster, and it just might help you shed those last few pounds. Aside from jumpstarting your metabolism, tea is also a zero-calorie alternative to those whole-milk lattes, sugar-filled coffees or those afternoon Frappuccinos.*

6. CBD Tea Is Good For Your Teeth

Smile! Tea is good for your teeth… especially in comparison to coffee. You can always spot a dedicated black coffee drinker by their stained teeth. Sure, if you start downing gallons of black tea a day you might start to notice some discoloration. But sticking with a couple cups of green or black CBD tea a day will keep your pearly whites in tip top shape.*

7. CBD Tea Can Reduce Your Stress

CBD is a known anxiety-reducer. Just the simple ritual of drinking a cup of tea can be relaxing, and help melt away the stress of the day. Replace the jitters of that third cup of coffee with a stress-busting cup of CBD Tea.*
