Brothers Gold Rush CBD Cocktail

Ingredients:
  • 3/4 oz CBD Honey Syrup (1 cup Brothers Apothecary Wild Rosin Honey + 1/3 cup hot water)
  • 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 2 oz bourbon
Instructions:

First, make the CBD honey syrup. In a small container, combine one cup of Brothers Apothecary Wild Rosin Honey with 1/3 cup of hot water and stir until the honey is completely dissolved.

You can either use your CBD honey syrup immediately, or store it in the fridge for up to five days.

In a shaker tin, combine your fresh lemon juice, CBD honey syrup and your bourbon.

We like to use a local Portland bourbon like the Burnside Oregon Oaked Bourbon from Eastside Distilling.

Shake your cocktail vigorously and strain it into a rocks glass with a large ice cube.

Garnish your glass with a strip of fresh lemon or orange rind. Bottoms up!

Gold Rush

The modern classic cocktail the Gold Rush was invented by the legendary mixologist Sasha Petraske’s childhood friend T.J. Siegal at Petraske’s iconic (and sadly now-shuttered) cocktail bar Milk & Honey in New York City. For those who aren’t familiar with the name, Petraske is widely credited as being the father of modern craft cocktail culture. He was the creative force behind many of the world’s most highest regarded bars and speakeasies. The simplicity, perfect balance and no-fuss profile of the Gold Rush made it a standard the world over. Keep reading to learn how to make our CBD-infused version of this classic standby.*

The Gold Rush Standard

The Gold Rush is a simple, straight forward, robust cocktail featuring just three ingredients. All it takes is honey syrup, fresh lemon juice, and a good bourbon. The real beauty of this cocktail is that it doesn’t require any fancy bar tools or equipment to be made perfectly. Don’t be fooled by its simplicity, though! The Gold Rush is a classic for a reason.*

Health Benefits of Honey

In addition to tasting great, raw honey is an amazing source of antioxidants and has natural antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. Honey actually naturally contains the antiseptic agent hydrogen peroxide. Raw honey is also chock full of phytonutrients, which are derived from plants and contain their own antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. Honey can help soothe a sore throat and quiet a noisy cough, making the Gold Rush the perfect cocktail for cold and flu season. Finally, honey can also soothe digestive issues from ulcers to upset tummies. Our Brothers Apothecary Wild Rosin Honey is handcrafted with full-spectrum, terpene-rich Hemp Rosin and blended with sustainable, ethically harvested raw wildflower honey. Each teaspoon contains an estimated 20MG of CBD.*

Why CBD Cocktails?

You may have noticed CBD cropping up in cocktails and health drinks at your local haunts. Derived from hemp, CBD is the non-psychoactive cousin to THC. CBD has been used for hundreds of years to reduce chronic pain, relieve anxiety, promote sleep, and boost mood. When combined with the stress-relieving effects of a good bourbon, CBD works to promote a sense of ease.*
