What does Super Citrus taste like?

Like all our capsules, Super Citrus capsules are totally tasteless, since all capsules at The Brothers are packaged in 100% vegetarian capsules and only contain faint tastes of the herbs inside. Because we use whole orange, lemon, and grapefruit peels with pure elderberry, each Super Citrus CBD Capsule has a faint citrus aroma and taste. 

What’s inside Super Citrus?

Super Citrus starts with an expert blend of citrus peels, including grapefruit, lemon and orange. These nutrient-rich fruits and then blended perfectly with elderberry and cannabinoid-rich hemp, specifically high in CBD. 

In totality, citruses are amazing plants that contain a wide variety of active metabolites, including flavonoids, alkaloids, limonoids, coumarins, carotenoids, phenolic acids and essential oils. Each citrus has a unique profile, taste, and color: 

Grapefruits are sometimes sweet, but often considered the more sour members of the citrus family. Interestingly, the modern grapefruit isn’t even 300 years old, and were created after what’s believed to be hybrid between sweet orange and pomelo. When they were first discovered, horticulturalists thought it was an accident! They are full of vitamin A and vitamin C, and the peels contain more fiber than pulp. 

Orange peels were very highly valued when first cultivated, and remain among the most popular citruses in the world. The peels are often used for essential oils. Orange peels were also frequently used in Traditional Chinese Medicine in tonics and qi improving formulas. Oranges, like all citruses, are packed full of beneficial enzymes and phytonutrients. The peels are also commonly used as teas and added to flavor drinks, and you’ll find them in teas like Golden Dream!

Our third peel comes from vibrant lemons. Lemon have the all familiar bright, citrus smells and flavors of other citruses, and are common in winter beverages like hot toddys, “wellness teas” and other throat-soothing recipes. Lemon peels are also high in vitamin C. They are commonly used in teas, and can be used to add aroma and flavor to any recipe!

While we love our citruses, we also wanted to add a local ingredient to us here in the Pacific Northwest: the Elderberry. Elderberries are a form of flowering plant, often tall with narrow branches covered in tight clusters of berries. They have a rich history of use in Indigenous American cultures, though they have been used in ancient Egypt as well. The berries are very tart and need to be cooked before ingesting. While they require some preparation, they are high in vitamin C and fiber, and contain beneficial plant metabolites including a host of broader polyphenols, including anthocyanins and procyanidins, which have antioxidant activity. 

When should I use CBD Capsules? 

We suggest taking Super C everyday. They are packed with vitamin C from citrus peels and elderberry, which may help support a healthy immune system. Generally, we suggest starting with 1-2 capsules, and working your way up if you desire a more concentrated vitamin C herbal supplement. Because we use whole-plant based recipes, the vitamin C content will differ from that of an isolated, 100% vitamin C capsule that lacks the other phytonutrients and secondary plant metabolites found in whole foods.
