The CBD Miso Honey Elixir

First off: What is Miso?

Typically, you make miso from fermented soy beans, koji (cooked rice and soybeans, that have also been fermented), and salt. Miso is a staple in the Japanese diet and is used in traditional medicine. You’ve likely had miso before, as it is commonly enjoyed in traditional miso soup. It is less commonly found in CBD Miso Elixirs.

What makes miso different is how it is prepared. Namely, unlike many other soy products, miso is fermented.

Fermentation is a chemical process where carbohydrates are converted to alcohol or other organic acids using microorganisms, such as yeast or bacteria. The result is a probiotic rich, full flavored paste that can be easily added to dishes, soups, and sauces. Or, in this case, a drinkable elixir of sorts.

Why Ferment? In addition to the taste, the probiotic nature of Miso means that it can help support overall gut health, healthy immune functions, and in turn, keep your stomach and body feeling great.

A Fusion: CBD Miso

CBD Miso builds on this, both through taste enhancement and through the benefit of hemp and its rich cannabinoid profile.

Wild Rosin Honey, which carries its own complex notes of wildflower, maple, and hemp’s terpene profile, makes for an ideal medium. Adding both a sweet and earthy characteristic, our small-batch rosin honey adds approximately 20mg CBD per teaspoon (or 60mg per tablespoon!).

Side note: You can also use our CBD honey pouches, which come in a variety of flavors (including Lemon Ginger, Turmeric Orange, and traditional Wildflower. Unlike the Rosin Honey, these have little if no “hempy” taste.

While a CBD Miso Honey Elixir might not have been on your radar before, this can be a warming, umami experience that benefits both body & mind!
