Happy Winter Solstice
Also known as “Midwinter,” “Yule” and “the Longest Night,” Winter Solstice is an astrological phenomenon marking the longest, darkest night of the year. Scientifically, midwinter occurs when one of the Earth’s poles has its maximum tilt away from the Sun. Yule this year falls on December 21st. The Winter Solstice has held great significance for cultures all across the globe since neolithic times. Today, many people mark the Winter Solstice with a celebratory dinner, and by lighting candles or gathering around the hearth.
