When we first opened our doors in 2016, knew we wanted to make something healthy, delicious, and unique. The vast majority of hemp and cannabis edibles were sugar-based — cookies, brownies, candy — or required the user to smoke. Both seemed far removed from the benefits of CBD tea.
As such, we quickly came to the conclusion that neither of those alternative delivery methods were as healthy most would prefer, especially for those looking for relief vs. recreation.
Then, a customer made a request: couldn’t she just enjoy some relaxing herbal tea?
From that, The Brothers Apothecary was created.

How often should you drink CBD tea?
The great thing about CBD tea is that you can drink it all day long. One thing you’ll immediately notice about our teas is the SIZE of the bag. We fit about 6-8x more tea per tea bag than traditional tea bags. That’s because we include a hefty serving of CBD (typically between 50-70mg, though batches vary). This means you can brew a pot of tea with each bag, then drink your tea throughout the day. It even travels well iced!
Whether it’s starting your morning with a cup of hemp-infused tea or winding down in the evening with a soothing cannabidiol blend, there are endless possibilities to enjoy CBD tea throughout the day. Is CBD tea always calming?
Most typically, the natural properties of cannabidiol work synergistically with our other ingredients to promote relaxation and balance within the body. As with normal, non-infused tea, as you sip on a warm cup of CBD-infused tea, you’ll likely feel a sense of tranquility wash over you, helping to alleviate stress and promote overall well-being.
That said, CBD tea can be energizing. We’ve specifically made a CBD matcha and CBD breakfast tea blend to provide a caffeinated, more stimulating experience.
Is CBD tea bioavailable? Is your tea made with a hemp extract?
CBD is not water soluble — that means it doesn’t mix into water. To address this, we’ve developed a special processing methodology that is completely unique to The Brothers Apothecary. It starts with a few extra ingredients in our blends, including organic coconut, acacia fiber, and yuca root. Using a patent-pending method, we’ve developed a truly unique form of infusion that combined lipids (fats) into the CBD hemp mixture. It’s not an extract in the formal sense, but our process allows for enhanced bioavailability in every one of our teas (and CBD capsules!). That in combination with that hefty serving mentioned above means you can still expect a powerful cup of tea that works.
